This was taken on a Thursday night while I was getting dinner ready. This is what it looks like in our house while that is happening. My son is usually getting into things or playing with a toy. My daughter likes to sit on the couch and relax. She is one of those that needs down time after being around people all day. My dog takes up a couch all on her own like she owns the place. The laundry is in the photo, waiting to be folded. A typical evening in our life.
I love my dog very much. After our second miscarriage my husband brought up the subject of getting a dog. We decided to get one that would be a good indoor dog and good with children. We also didn’t want to buy a dog that had been bread. We wanted to adopt one that really needed a home. After much research, we decided to adopt a beagle. We got her from Beagles and Buddies, a local rescue agency.
I grew up with dogs and knew how much I loved having one in the home. Interestingly, when we first got home with her, I would go on long walks with her and worry that we did the right thing by bringing her home with us. I actually questioned whether I really wanted her. That, made me worry about the day we might have to adopt. Would I feel the same way? Looking back, surely it was a sign of where I was emotionally given all we had been through. Slowly but surely she warmed her way into my heart and I could not imagine my life without her in it.
She was spoiled with a lot of attention from us before we adopted our daughter and then had our son. She had to share the attention we used to give her with them. It was not an easy transition for her, but she has grown to love them. As much as she loves them, they do get on her nerves. They can be quite loud. She is getting older and crankier. There are times when she just wants some piece and quiet.
On Friday night my husband’s track team had an evening meet. He wasn’t going to be home until midnight at the earliest. It was just me, the kids and the dog. Naturally, most of my attention was on the kids all night. They were rowdier than usual. At one point, I saw that our dog had left the room. I was wondering where she was. I went to find her and there she was, on our bed hiding and trying to find some piece and quiet. The second I walked into the room her tail started thumping on the bed. I love how happy she is to see us.
I havent posted in a while for various reasons. Last Thursday my son came with a stomach bug. On Monday morning, I came down with the same stomach bug. It lasted for 6 days! On Thursday, my daughter came down with the same bug. During all of this, I was at work each day. It was one of those weeks that I couldn’t miss. I am part of a data warehouse project that started the week I got sick. I also went to the doctor. Not for my sickness but for my back. You see, its been bothering me for a couple of weeks now. My doctor said it was muscular so I visited a friend of mine, he is an athletic trainer. He told me I have a rhomboid muscle injury. I am now requesting a referral from my doctor to a physical therapist. I am falling apart!!
Despite all of this, I have taken a photo each day. I am going to post them in one big post today so that I can catch up.
On the day I felt the worst, I was able to leave work a little early. I also asked my in-laws to pick the kids up from daycare. I went straight home and to bed. This was my bed mate that afternoon/early evening. She is good about snuggling with us when we don’t feel well.
The next morning I was sitting on the couch with the kids. I could see the sun shining through the branches of this tree outside our balcony. I decided to take a quick photo, knowing that I wouldn’t feel up to it later in the day.
Again, the following morning, I am sitting on the couch with the kids looking at the same tree. This time, I noticed a bird perched on one of the branches. I grabbed my telephoto lens and as quietly as possibly, got as close as I could for a photo.
When my daughter doesn’t feel well, she is comforted by her blankets. Not just one blanket in particular, but all of them. She grabbed three of them to sit on the couch with on Saturday evening. Since she was sick, it was a quiet evening at home.
Today, we ran a few errands and then spent the rest of the day at home. All of us are still recovering and it was raining. My son wanted a snack after he got up from his nap. I gave him some fruit chews that he loves. His latest trick is stashing some of them away in his cheeks for later. You just never know when your next meal might be! I did notice about 45 minutes later he finally decided to chew and swallow these last few pieces.
Today I went to the local sporting good store to get some new hand weights. I workout during my lunch hour at the gym on campus, but I only have time for cardio. I try to do four-five days a week of cardio leaving me little time for weights. So I have decided to start doing my weight workouts in the evenings after the kids have gone to bed.
I was setting my weights up to take a photo for my project365. I happened to set them in the one spot of sun in our dining room. My dog really wanted to get some warmth so she tried to sit inwhat was left. She snuck into my photo!
As soon as I took the photo, I cleared out the weights. She immediately stretched out to bask in all of the sunlight available.
