This was taken on a Thursday night while I was getting dinner ready. This is what it looks like in our house while that is happening. My son is usually getting into things or playing with a toy. My daughter likes to sit on the couch and relax. She is one of those that needs down time after being around people all day. My dog takes up a couch all on her own like she owns the place. The laundry is in the photo, waiting to be folded. A typical evening in our life.
I’ve finally finished posting all of the photos I took in April. Now to get caught up with the month of May. With a move coming up for us, its going to be a challenge to get caught up and stay caught up. My goal is to be able to post my last photo of this project on the actual day I take it. I have about 4 more months until that day.
The day I took this photo it was a warm day. We took the kids to my in-laws house to play in the pool. While we were there we decided to give our dog a much needed bath. She’s not exactly a fan of them, but she puts up with them. My daughter really wanted to help wash her this time. She did a really great job holding the hose so we could wipe the soap off our dog. It was a lot of fun having her help us with this activity. Our kids are learning to care for animals in such a great way at such a young age.
I love my dog very much. After our second miscarriage my husband brought up the subject of getting a dog. We decided to get one that would be a good indoor dog and good with children. We also didn’t want to buy a dog that had been bread. We wanted to adopt one that really needed a home. After much research, we decided to adopt a beagle. We got her from Beagles and Buddies, a local rescue agency.
I grew up with dogs and knew how much I loved having one in the home. Interestingly, when we first got home with her, I would go on long walks with her and worry that we did the right thing by bringing her home with us. I actually questioned whether I really wanted her. That, made me worry about the day we might have to adopt. Would I feel the same way? Looking back, surely it was a sign of where I was emotionally given all we had been through. Slowly but surely she warmed her way into my heart and I could not imagine my life without her in it.
She was spoiled with a lot of attention from us before we adopted our daughter and then had our son. She had to share the attention we used to give her with them. It was not an easy transition for her, but she has grown to love them. As much as she loves them, they do get on her nerves. They can be quite loud. She is getting older and crankier. There are times when she just wants some piece and quiet.
On Friday night my husband’s track team had an evening meet. He wasn’t going to be home until midnight at the earliest. It was just me, the kids and the dog. Naturally, most of my attention was on the kids all night. They were rowdier than usual. At one point, I saw that our dog had left the room. I was wondering where she was. I went to find her and there she was, on our bed hiding and trying to find some piece and quiet. The second I walked into the room her tail started thumping on the bed. I love how happy she is to see us.
Today I went to the local sporting good store to get some new hand weights. I workout during my lunch hour at the gym on campus, but I only have time for cardio. I try to do four-five days a week of cardio leaving me little time for weights. So I have decided to start doing my weight workouts in the evenings after the kids have gone to bed.
I was setting my weights up to take a photo for my project365. I happened to set them in the one spot of sun in our dining room. My dog really wanted to get some warmth so she tried to sit inwhat was left. She snuck into my photo!
As soon as I took the photo, I cleared out the weights. She immediately stretched out to bask in all of the sunlight available.
